We are a loosely affiliated group of believers who want to see the
Kingdom of God grow in an organic super-natural way. We believe that
church, the communities of believers, need to be simple and we
are convinced that God causes these communities to grow. They
happen much more easily then we may realize. So... simple church
happens.
We are located in the maritime provinces of Canada, but we are
affiliated with more networks of simple churches across Canada and the
US. In our affiliation there is no overarching organization. Some of us
relate to existing oranizations or movements like the Vineyard. We have
been brought together relationally by D.A.W.N International with a
vision to see vibrant communites of Jesus Christ within easy
reach of eveyone in North America. Their strategy is to encourage the
planting of as many House Churches or Simple Churches as is needed
across this continent. [Read the Organic DAWN vision under our
resource page.]
The vision for simple church comes from a desire to begin new churches
and disciple many more new believers. It involves a different mindset
what church is. What we are talking about is simpler organizationally.
It draws on the participation of every believer. Simple Church happens
with revolutionary Christians.* These are people too passionate about
Jesus Christ to be satisfied with a Sunday building centered event as
being all the "church" they need. Simple Church is not just
church in a house, it is the natural expression of Jesus-filled
friendships. It is organic in the natural way it evolves. It is people
doing life together. Some of us say that it is the church you have
longed for in your heart, but were not sure what it would look like
exactly. So, like the rest of us... ask God to show you more. What you
learn by desperation will be deeper and more enduring than what someone
might try to persuade you of. We have many articles and even online
books on our resource page. These are to help us create new and unique
responses to our individual communities. There is no single how to
book. There are a few common guidelines that we are discovering are
helpful.
